If you have a child wishing to learn to swim or you wish to train with our club we can offer a free trial or taster session. Please use the form below to provide your details, including swimming ability, and we will be in touch to arrange a suitable session for you at the earliest opportunity.

Trials for joining our Tadpoles sessions are held every half term at The Walnuts on Sundays during the Tadpoles sessions.

Trials for joining the squads are held on an individual basis and swimmers are invited to a suitable squad session. Our entry level competitive squads welcome swimmers from age 8/9.

If you have any questions then please either use the form below or ask the coach at the trial. Alternatively you might find your answer in either the FAQ's below or on our main website.

If the form below is missing, this means that Google reCaptcha has determined that the request for this page was likely from a robot. If this is incorrect please come down to the Walnuts at 18:30 on Monday evenings to talk to a club member in the spectator gallery who will be able to introduce you to a committee member or other volunteer.

About us

The Club's home pool is The Walnuts Leisure Centre and we also train at Biggin Hill and Eltham College, as well as school pools at St Dunstan’s and Warren Road. In total around 55 hours of pool time is currently offered plus teaching programmes.

All our teachers and coaches are experienced, fully qualified and CRB checked. The Club is very proud, that once again, it has been awarded SwimMark status, the quality mark of SwimEngland.

Orpington Ojays has continually promoted dedication, friendship, understanding and teamwork as core values in all that it does. Everyone involved with the club is part of our team.

Learn to Swim (L2S)

The Club runs a Learn to Swim School for primary school children aged 4 years to 9 years old, with structured classes based on age and ability held at Warren Road on Saturday mornings. Small classes are designed to be fun and build up confidence and safety in the water. Children start in a warm shallow training pool and progress to deeper pools when ready.

Tadpoles

Our Tadpoles Training Academy is for younger swimmers (usually age 6 – 10) who have learnt the basics and want to continue to develop skills and stamina. Small classes enable swimmers to progress at a pace and a level to suit them. We offer Race nights at least once a year to give swimmers an introduction to racing and competition in a friendly lesson environment. After reaching the required standard, swimmers will have the opportunity to join the club and train within a squad system.

Squads

Squad swimmers typically train between two and seven times a week dependent upon age and ability. Full details of squad sessions can be found here: OOJSC - Squads

The Club's fully coached six tier Competitive Squad System is for children and adults and extends swimming into structured, intensive training. The Club encourages excellence in swimming at all standards and participates in a number of swimming leagues at differing levels. It hosts its own annual Open Meets which attracts swimming club members from across Kent and surrounding areas. It also holds a number of club gala’s limited to members of the club.

Masters

Master's Swimming is aimed at adults wishing to continue to swim in a friendly, club-based, environment either as a casual swimmer or to continue their competitive swimming career.
