• ASA Teacher • ASA Preliminary Coach • Started teaching when Orpington first moved to the Walnuts • Taught all the junior age groups at one time or another and Club squad (precursor to today’s Black and Purple) • Member of Orpington SC and sometime Club Captain in the days when Darrick Wood was the base of the club • Have also done some outdoor long distance swimming.

• ASA level 1 • ASA level 2 • Richard commenced swimming at the age of 4 yrs and by the age of 10 started swimming for Redbridge Borough Squad. • Richard has swum at both county and regional level as a junior swimmer. • For the last 15 years Richard has been involved with Masters swimming and competed up until 2007 A previous Kent County Masters Champion & Redbridge County Masters Champion.

• Level 2 qualified teacher • Been teaching for 2 and half years around Sevenoaks area at many different swim schools • Swum for Sevenoaks Swimming Club since the age of 8 • Was chosen to represent Sevenoaks in Kent Relay Teams three times • Has been coaching Orpington Ojays since March 2009.

• Increase Kent participants • Increase the number of swimmers being eligible for Top Squad • To increase the number of swimmers per session, by ensuring swimmers enjoy the time they spend here and in turn want to come and swim to train hard, which will result in faster swimming.

Top squad is for the most able, capable and talented swimmers, who have the ability and dedication to compete at and above County Championship level. Training is focused on developing swimmers to very high standards in all areas, in line with British Swimming recommendations. Training includes stamina and sprint work, all at varying distances and takes place in the pool and the gym environment. Nutritional, psychological and tactical advice is also given.
