Steve Bebbington
• ASA Teacher • ASA Preliminary Coach • Started teaching when Orpington first moved to the Walnuts • Taught all the junior age groups at one time or another and Club squad (precursor to today’s Black and Purple) • Member of Orpington SC and sometime Club Captain in the days when Darrick Wood was the base of the club • Have also done some outdoor long distance swimming.
Eve Powis
• Joined Orpington Swimming Club in 1982 • Started by teaching a width class in the small pool • ASA Preliminary Teacher, Teacher, Advanced Teacher, Assistant Club Coach and Coach • Awarded ‘Coach of the Year’ by Bromley Council in 1997 • Eve started Orpington Juniors (Ojays) Swimming Club in 1984.
To improve individual needs, including technique, skill and fitness and to socialise while keeping fit.

• Level 2 qualified teacher • Been teaching for 2 and half years around Sevenoaks area at many different swim schools • Swum for Sevenoaks Swimming Club since the age of 8 • Was chosen to represent Sevenoaks in Kent Relay Teams three times • Has been coaching Orpington Ojays since March 2009.
Richard Baxter Smith
• ASA level 1 • ASA level 2 • Richard commenced swimming at the age of 4 yrs and by the age of 10 started swimming for Redbridge Borough Squad. • Richard has swum at both county and regional level as a junior swimmer. • For the last 15 years Richard has been involved with Masters swimming and competed up until 2007 A previous Kent County Masters Champion & Redbridge County Masters Champion.
• Perfect strokes technically • Instil a good knowledge of competition starts/turns/finishes • Build confidence • Improve endurance and stamina.

• Advanced swimming teacher • Experienced parent and baby/toddler teacher • Represented Great Britain in an International against the Netherlands • Held British Junior record for 100m Breaststroke • Current holder of British records for Masters 50m and 100m Breaststroke.

• Increase Kent participants • Increase the number of swimmers being eligible for Top Squad • To increase the number of swimmers per session, by ensuring swimmers enjoy the time they spend here and in turn want to come and swim to train hard, which will result in faster swimming.

Vicki Roughley
• ASA Preliminary Teachers • ASA Level 2 • Swam for Orpington Ojays from the age of 8 and competed at the Kent Southern Counties, achieving a National qualifying time on 100m breaststroke • Swam in various charity events, as well as the British Long Distance swim • During my Army career swam for Corps.
Aim to provide stroke correction, starts and turns, and introduce swimmers to the Club Championships, allowing them to progress and move up into the other squads.

Simon Coe
• Simon is a qualified Level 3 Club Coach and has been involved with swimming for many years. He has been Head Coach at Orpington Ojays since September 2006. • He previously coached at White Oak Swimming Club, where for many years he was a competitive swimming member (competing at County, Regional and National Level). • As Head Coach, Simon’s aim is to oversee the development of all swimmers in all squads and to ensure all members are able to fulfil their swimming potential within a friendly team environment.
Top squad is for the most able, capable and talented swimmers, who have the ability and dedication to compete at and above County Championship level. Training is focused on developing swimmers to very high standards in all areas, in line with British Swimming recommendations. Training includes stamina and sprint work, all at varying distances and takes place in the pool and the gym environment. Nutritional, psychological and tactical advice is also given.
